WARM UPS





The importance of warm up activities should never be overlooked. It’s difficult for anyone regardless of their age to arrive and suddenly launch into drama. Try some of these activities to relax the children and to help them to focus.

STRETCHING

            Shake out – right hand 8x’s, left hand, right foot, left foot. Repeat 4x’s, 2x’s, 1x.

Make yourself as small / big as you can (repeat)

            Shoulders up to ears, drop

            Hook hands behind you, stretch hands up

            Right hand to right foot, left hand in the air (repeat with opposite)

            Roll down to touch toes, one vertebrae at a time

            Take deep breath, on exhale sink into the stretch

            Sit cross legged

            Stretch right, left arm arch over head (repeat with opposite)

            Stretch front   

            Fold in right leg, reach to left foot. (repeat with opposite)

            Shake it out

            Lip buzz and sirens

 

 

 

HEAD AND FACE MASSAGE

Pairs. One lying on their back on the floor, the other sitting at their head. The person sitting gives the other player a head and face massage. Starting from the forehead, then the top of the head and hairline. Run fingers around the bones of the eyes, down the bridge of the nose, down the sides of the nose to the cheek bones, massage the soft part of the cheeks, down the sides of the jaw and down along the neck. Gently replace the player's head on the floor. Players swap roles and the other player is given the massage.

 

 

GROUP MASSAGE

Everyone standing in a circle very close together and facing inwards. Everyone turn to their right and take a step into the circle to the left so that people are very close. Now everyone give the person in front a shoulder massage and then gentle chopping and patting their back.
